ATA Engineering Announces the Release of IMAT v6.0.0

Enhancements include updated coordinate system ID and element type numbering, StartImat for beginners, and more.

SAN DIEGO, Calif., October 13, 2015 — ATA is excited to announce the release of version 6.0.0 of the IMAT family of software products. IMAT is a MATLAB interface designed for test and analysis engineers who work with large engineering data sets. This release brings a number of exciting new enhancements to the powerful functionality available in IMAT.

ATA is committed to providing new IMAT releases in conjunction with new MATLAB releases. ATA Engineering designed IMAT v6.0.0 to work with MATLAB R2015b as well as previous releases back to R2012b.

Notable IMAT Upgrades:

New function StartImat gives beginners a guided tour of available functionality. This new graphical interface provides guidance in navigating IMAT’s basic functions. The StartImat function groups the types of files you can import, shows how to plot results, and provides easy access to tips and help files, offering an easy-to-understand overview of IMAT’s functionality and how to access it.

IMAT has also added support for several more Nastran elements and physical properties.

Notable IMAT+FEA Upgrades:

IMAT’s global Cartesian coordinate system ID has been changed from 1 to 0, giving Nastran users a more consistent, familiar experience with IMAT+FEA, and updated element type numbering makes it easier to compare element type IDs in imat_fem and imat_result without confusion or uncertainty.

Enhancements to readnas allow you to save time by importing only a subset of results when processing large files. This new functionality makes it possible to filter your results by entity ID and read in only the results you want, saving processing time and memory.

Notable IMAT+Modal Upgrades:

Added functions in MTK let you generate back-expansion matrices on the fly and extract ODS directly from time histories. For cases where there is a need to modify your test analysis model (TAM) during testing, a new IMAT+Modal function increases your productivity by letting you generate back-expansion matrices without returning to a solver to make modifications. IMAT+Modal’s test data reduction capabilities have also been expanded with an MTK function that makes it possible to extract operating deflection shapes directly from time histories using singular value decomposition.
