ATA’s Dr. Eric Blades Receives JANNAF Paper Award
SAN DIEGO, Calif., February 19, 2021 – ATA Engineering (ATA) is pleased to announce that Dr. Eric Blades was selected for an award for Best Technical Paper at the Joint Army-Navy-NASA-Air Force (JANNAF) 37th Airbreathing Propulsion Subcommittee Meeting, which was held in June 2019 in Dayton, Ohio.
Dr. Blades was recognized for his paper, “Fully Coupled Aerothermoelastic Simulations of the X-51A Waverider Hypersonic Scramjet,” and for his contributions to the airbreathing propulsion field and the JANNAF community. He received the award in January 2021.
“ATA greatly appreciates receiving this commendation from the JANNAF Airbreathing Propulsion Subcommittee and the DoD’s sponsorship of this work under the High Performance Computing Modernization Program Application Software Initiative,” ATA President Josh Davis said. “I congratulate Eric, his co-authors at the Air Force Research Laboratory/Aerospace Systems Directorate, the ATA research team, and our collaborators at Mississippi State University and the University of Oklahoma for this truly pioneering advancement in what is possible for simulation of hypersonic systems.”
Dr. Blades is a technical fellow and vice president at ATA. He is also the technical director of ATA’s Fluid-Structure Interaction, Flutter, and Rotorcraft division. In this role, he has supported numerous advanced research and development efforts focusing on the development of multiphysics simulation capabilities for high-speed fluid-thermal-structural-material applications.
ATA congratulates Dr. Blades on his achievement.
