Siemens’ product lifecycle management (PLM) software business has been recognized as the number one provider of PLM software in China for the third consecutive year by CIMdata Inc., a leading independent global PLM management consulting and research firm. The firm ranked Siemens PLM Software at the top of their list in eight categories in China, including 2013 total revenue, as well as net revenue, channel revenue and service revenue. Siemens PLM Software also maintained its number one position in two key PLM sub segments, multi-disciplinary 3D mechanical computer-aided design (CAD) and Digital Manufacturing (DM) for the fourth year in a row. Siemens ranked number one in the growing Automotive and Industry Equipment sectors for the third consecutive year, and as a result of its expanding portfolio – including the acquisition of LMS – Siemens PLM Software improved its market position to third in simulation and analysis (S&A), up five positions from the 2013 ranking.
“Siemens continues to lead the way in multi-disciplinary mechanical 3D CAD and Digital Manufacturing in China and has seen significant growth in S&A revenue,” said Peter Bilello, President of CIMdata. “Its strong position in the Automotive and Industry Equipment segments are also critical to its success in China as these essential segments continue to grow, and our data suggests that future growth is very promising.”
Siemens’ continued leadership in the comprehensive PLM category in China is significant considering CIMdata forecasts the market will continue its rapid growth in China with a five-year compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 14.9% between 2014 and 2018. The S&A market segment, the fastest growing according to the CIMdata report, is addressed by Siemens with a rich portfolio of computer-aided engineering analysis (CAE) offerings including the CAE modules of NX™ software, NX Nastran® software, Femap™ software and the portfolio of LMS™ solutions, which incorporates model-based mechatronic simulation, a broad CAE simulation offering, and advanced testing solutions in the product development process.
“Siemens has a strong track record of PLM leadership around the world,” said Chuck Grindstaff, president and CEO, Siemens PLM Software. “This latest report illustrates our commitment to maintaining leadership in the Chinese market, which is of critical value to our global and local customers. Our strong focus on simulation and analysis will help address the increasing complexity of tomorrow’s product innovations, as we continue to meet our customers’ needs with comprehensive solutions.”
“Maintaining the top ranking in eight areas in the Chinese market demonstrates our commitment to delivering value to our customers,” said Leo Liang, Managing Director of Greater China, Siemens PLM Software. “This ranking illustrates that our expertise and industrial experience are well recognized by our customers in China, and we remain committed to providing PLM solutions that help our customers make smarter decisions that lead to better products.”
Siemens PLM Software also recently announced that it was recognized as the global market presence leader in the collaborative Product Data Management (cPDM) and Digital Manufacturing segments for the 13th year in a row by CIMdata in a separate report. Siemens PLM Software addresses the cPDm category with its Teamcenter® portfolio, the world’s most widely used digital lifecycle management software, and the DM category with the Tecnomatix® portfolio, the industry’s leading digital manufacturing solution.
