Hydro automates the creation of a superelement representation of sloshing fluid in Nastran, greatly simplifying your model while capturing the fluid’s dynamics. It supports different fluid representations including options that explicitly represent the slosh modes for response analysis.
Hydro was originally developed on the Titan Centaur program, but has since been used to model fluid in a wide variety of tank shapes for many vehicles, ranging from launch vehicles motorcycles.
To use Hydro, first define the wetted and free surfaces of your tank and fluid with shell elements. Then create a solid mesh of the fluid. Finally use Hydro to create a superelement that captures the dynamics of the sloshing fluid.
Hydro has an easy to use interface that helps users set up all of the necessary Nastran parameters. Simply define the input and output file names in the appropriate fields and let Hydro do the rest.
