FORT WORTH, Texas, April 13, 2026 – ATA Engineering, Inc., (ATA), a 100% employee-owned company renowned for its expertise in analysis- and test-driven engineering design solutions for aerospace and defense systems, has leveraged its proven testing methods to support Mammoth Freighters LLC (Mammoth) in achieving Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Supplemental Type Certification (STC) of their cargo freighter aircraft modification. Mammoth, a Texas-based company specializing in converting commercial aircraft to freighters, contracted ATA to provide ground and flight test support for their converted 777-200LRMF (Long Range Mammoth Freighter) aircraft, which is a next-generation widebody freighter designed to deliver long-range capability, payload efficiency and operational reliability to meet the demands of cargo operators worldwide.
As the leading independent provider of modal and ground vibration testing in the United States and as a company with deep expertise in test planning, instrumentation and test execution using ATA patented methods, data collection and reporting, ATA was uniquely positioned to help Mammoth validate their aircraft’s performance and structural integrity. Over a two-year period, ATA worked closely with Mammoth to support a series of on-site ground and flight tests consisting of pre- and post-modification ground vibration tests, static bending and pressurization tests and unloaded and fully loaded flight flutter tests on the post-modification configuration. ATA provided end-to-end testing support, including instrumentation installation, test setup, test execution and data analysis. Drawing on nearly 50 years of test expertise, ATA supplied results in compliance with FAA certification requirements, collaborating closely with Mammoth to successfully achieve certification and enable the aircraft’s clearance for commercial service.
Johnny Froehlich, FEA Lead at Mammoth, commented on his experience working with the ATA team: “ATA continues to be one of the most efficient and skillful teams we work with. So much so that our program has slowly transitioned to using ATA’s team for all of our upcoming flight vehicle tests in lieu of other third-party providers.”
Mr. Froehlich continued: “The team at ATA are incredible communicators and collaborators, but when it comes down to it, the execution of the test and the quality of the data are most important for us. The quality and accuracy of the data ATA provides instills us with the confidence we need to evaluate and validate our models and achieve certification.”
ATA was honored to support Mammoth in successfully making this significant aircraft modification, delivering efficient testing and reliable results that ensured full FAA certification for the 777-200LRMF conversion and further expanding Mammoth’s fleet of next-generation widebody freighters.
