Accountant III

ATA Engineering provides test- and analysis-driven design for aerospace, defense, themed entertainment, robotics and controls, consumer products, and industrial and mining equipment. The Accountant III is responsible for processing payroll, preparing tax returns, financial statements, reports, and invoices, and ensuring tax and DCAA compliance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Manage monthly and annual close process; reconcile balance sheet accounts and review all expense accounts, substantiate accounting transactions in concert with accounting clerks
• Serve as key interface with external tax and 401K/ESOP auditors
• Prepare and file sales and use tax returns for various states as required
• Lead the analysis and preparation of monthly financial statements and other reports
• Prepare or assist indirect rate analysis and incurred cost submissions
• Lead financial, Defense Contract Audit Agency (DCAA), property tax, and customer audits
• Prepare and manage cost-plus-fixed-fee (CPFF) monthly invoices for Government customers and produce associated reports
• Lead bimonthly payroll processing and consult on monthly payable/invoicing cycles
• Serve as senior advisor to controller and CFO on costing, accounting, and systems issues
• Work directly with General Manager and President on special projects related to corporate and ESOP issues

Physical Demands

• Ability to sit for extended periods of time working on a computer

Requirements

• 3-5 years of relevant and demonstrated accounting experience
• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business; MBA (accounting/finance/info systems) or MS in Accounting preferred
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Outstanding attention to detail and analytical skills
• In-depth knowledge of financial reporting standards, tax regulations, and industry legislation
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of company and customer information and documents
• Must be a U.S. Person as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15

Salary Range (2024):

• Entry–Mid Career Level: $60,000–$150,000 per year
• Manager/Director Level: $130,000–$230,000 per year
