In May 2018, Robby Aungst and Jonathan Hill presented “Leveraging the Femap User Interface” at the 2018 Femap Symposia Series events in Huntsville, Cypress, and San Diego. This presentation dives into the analysis process from start to finish, beginning with importing, idealizing, and midsurfacing geometry, and continuing on with meshing the new plates, improving mesh quality, and finally postprocessing the results. It focuses on the simple but powerful capabilities that have been added to the meshing and postprocessing toolboxes in recent years, which offer an alternative workflow to traditional menu-based commands. Although the presentation was primarily a live demonstration, a number of helpful tips and methods have been included in the presentation slides.
