Training to Empower Your Teams

This webinar highlights how digital tools such as process automation and simulation can change your approach to designing almost anything—including particle and bulk material transportation systems! The webinar will focus on the Discrete Element Modeling (DEM) functionality in STAR-CCM+ and show how the latest version of STAR-CCM+ can run without a computational mesh for CFD, reducing computation time.

In recent years, industrial bulk materials handling and processing equipment has become more complex, sophisticated, and capable, reflecting global trends toward faster production of high-quality products. Many particle-handling processes also involve complex geometries and combinations of different physics: examples include fluidized bed reactors with intricate shapes, and particle melting in 3D printing. But this additional complexity in geometry and physics brings a need for improved operational efficiency and reduced cost. DEM enables modeling of dense particle flows in industrial equipment.

In this webinar, Dr. Hewkin-Greggor will walk through an example using STAR-CCM+ 2021.3 with Meshless DEM to simulate a pill conveyance system, including debris filtering and system motion.
